Each year, about 1 in 5 U.S. women experience some type of mental health condition, such as depression or anxiety. Many of these conditions, such as bipolar disorder, affect more women than men or affect women in different ways from men. At SUN, we’ve developed a program designed specifically for women, created in a caring, healing environment for every step of your journey to recovery.
SUN’s Women’s Connections Program offers evidence-based treatment designed for women who prefer a program that is gender-specific when seeking treatment for issues related to trauma or interpersonal difficulties. The program helps women who may be experiencing acute or chronic stress related to gender roles and disparity, and offers psychiatric and psychological services for women who may be experiencing the following symptoms:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, in a trauma-informed approach, is used to promote personal safety and empowerment. Collaboration and choice are fostered through education and practicing new skills, and women are encouraged to create a personal action plan for continued recovery and growth.
