Adult Acute Inpatient Program

SUN Behavioral Health’s Adult Acute Inpatient Program provides 24/7 psychiatric care for adults ages 18 and above experiencing severe mental health symptoms, behavioral health challenges, or co-occurring substance use disorders. This program is designed to stabilize acute crises in a safe, structured environment and serve as a starting point in the journey to recovery.

Who We Treat

This program supports individuals with a primary mental health diagnosis, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and more. For those also managing substance use concerns, our dual diagnosis track offers integrated treatment for both mental health and addiction.

Program Features
  • 24/7 nursing care and medical supervision
  • Individualized treatment planning
  • Individual, group, and family therapy (as clinically appropriate)
  • Evidence-based therapies including CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, and trauma-informed care
  • Medication management by board-certified psychiatric providers
  • Recreational therapy, mindfulness, yoga, and expressive arts
  • Addiction education and relapse prevention (for dual diagnosis patients)
  • Discharge and aftercare planning

Getting Started

We offer confidential, no-cost assessments 24/7/365 by calling to schedule an assessment, scheduling an online teleassessment, or walking into our facility. Following the assessment, our clinical team will determine the most appropriate level of care and begin the admissions process promptly.

If you or a loved one is experiencing a mental health crisis, SUN Behavioral Health is here to help—compassionately, professionally, and without judgment.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

PHP is ideal for adults stepping down from inpatient care or those needing more intensive treatment to prevent hospitalization. Patients attend group therapy five days per week, focusing on:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Coping skills development
  • WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) for relapse prevention
  • Medication management by our psychiatric team

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

IOP is designed for individuals transitioning from PHP or those who need structured care beyond traditional outpatient services. Patients attend five group sessions per week, which include:

  • Daily process groups
  • Cognitive therapy
  • WRAP-focused relapse prevention

Outpatient treatment is ideal for adults seeking support while maintaining work, school, or family responsibilities. Care is customized following an initial assessment, and services are delivered by licensed professionals in a trauma-informed environment. Treatment may include:

  • Psychiatric and medication support
  • Group psychotherapy
  • Life skills and stress management
  • Mindfulness and physical wellness strategies
  • Aftercare planning and support groups
